Rhythmic code

In rhythmic code we write a rhythmic clave by placing the duration of the pattern (in pulses) first, and then writing the hit nomenclature of the pattern or clave. Since we know expand of the pattern we can omit the hits or strokes that are achieved through the repetition of previous ones.

Example 1

Let's imagine the next rhythmic pattern in 11/8:

Archivo:Patron-3332.png

This can be written in hit nomenclature like this:

3 3 3 2

This clave's code can be written like this:

11.3332

But we simplified like this:

11.3

Example 2

Let's imagine the following rhythmic pattern in 13/8:

Archivo:Patron-32323.png

This can be written in hit nomenclature like this:

3 2 3 2 3

This clave's code can be written like this:

13.32323

But we simplified like this:

13.32

Important

As shown, we can write simple claves in a very synthetic manner, but it's important to be able the extend the full chain of hits or strokes from the code.

Notice that in the first example the extended chain of hits or strokes of 11.3 isn't 3 3 3 3, because the clave lasts for 11 pulses only. 11.3 must then be extended to 3 3 3 2.
